5 Strange, rare and Exotic Animal Species around the world

1. Mexican Walking Fish

The Walking-Fish from Mexico is near the extinction. It is a Caecilian, and he lives in the waters off the bay of Mexico. Is not it beautiful? Yea it is! The one shown on the picture is an Axolotl. Axolotls are members of the "Ambystoma tigrinum" (Tiger salamander) complex, with all other Mexican species of Ambystoma. They live in a high altitude ponds surrounded by a risky terrestrial environment.

2. Goliath Birdeater Spider
Quantcast
One of the biggest spiders on Earth, with a funny name: The "Goliath Birdeater", from South America. It may, unfolding its legs, by reaching a wingspan of 12 inches. The Goliath Birdeaters are defensive spiders and may make a strong acute noise when disturbed. They can defend themselves by biting or by ''kicking'' hair towards their perceived assailant. These hairs can be severely irritating to the skin and lungs.

3. Weta

You do not find that it looks like a grasshopper. Significantly larger. You do not find that it looks like a grasshopper. Significantly larger for example. The original Weta of New Zealand is vital to the ecosystem. Although harmless and not very... good-looking, the Weta is a species nearing extinction. The above picture is showing a Weta and a quite... courageous person holding it in his hand

4. Giant Coconut Crab

Okay, juste to make sure, this picture isn't not Photoshopped and this, is not a HOAX: Is it really a giant crab on a garbage can. From Guam and other Pacific islands, Coconut Crab are at risk due to tropical habitat destruction. Being able to crack a coconut in one swipe, they're usually to slow to be dangerous to humans. This crab is the largest land-living arthropod in the world, and is probably at the upper limit of how big terrestrial animals with exoskeletons can become in today's atmosphere. I first thought that, the picture, was showing a big spider... I was wrong.

5. Glass Frog

Absolutely stunning specie, so it would be a shame if we let it die out. Note the visible organs in this beautiful specimen. Unfortunately, with tropical rainforests in Central and South America threatened, the glass frog may go extinct. While the general background coloration of most glass frogs is primarily lime green, the abdominal skin of some members of this family is transparent.
